Endothelin receptor type B, also known as ETB is a protein that in humans is encoded by the EDNRB gene.
The protein encoded by this gene is a G protein-coupled receptor which activates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second m essenger system. Aberrant methylated EDNRB can act as a potential diagnostic biomarker in sporadic colorectal cancer while KISS1 is controversial. Reza Mousavi Ardehaie et. al Bioengineered, 8 (5), undefined (2017-2-1) Cancers are among the most serious threats of human health worldwide. Using whole-genome sequencing, we discovered that EDNRB (Endothelin receptor type B) is a candidate gene involved in HA adaptation. EDNRB is a seven‐transmembrane receptor coupled with G‐protein and is highly expressed in NHMs 11, 12. EDNRB equally interacts with all forms of EDNs, EDN1, EDN2 and EDN3 13.

It also regulates the development and function of blood vessels, the production of certain hormones, and the stimulation of cell growth and division. Mutations can cause cancer (R). The gene view histogram is a graphical view of mutations across EDNRB. These mutations are displayed at the amino acid level across the full length of the gene by default.
EDNRB expression may be affected by aberrant promoter methylation and gene deletion and may play a role in the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Endothelin B receptor mediates the endothelial barrier to T cell homing to tumors; EDNRB-rs5351 was the most susceptible SNP associated with atherosclerosis in male hypertensives, and the genetic background may be …

Nov 01, 2019 · Similarly, EDNRB and not EDNRA is abundantly expressed in mammalian kidneys (Ahn et al., 2004, Fukuroda et al., 1994, Ge et al., 2006). This hints that EDNRB/B2 signaling may play conserved roles in renal sodium and water excretion and clearance of circulating EDN in birds, thus being critical for the regulation of blood pressure.
EDNRB equally interacts with all forms of EDNs, EDN1, EDN2 and EDN3 13. Mutations of those genes cause Waardenburg Syndrome Type IV, which is characterized as an auditory–pigmentary syndrome by hearing loss coupled with abnormal The Human Protein Atlas project is funded by the Knut & Alice Wallenberg Foundation. Interestingly, homozygous (and very rare heterozygous) EDNRB mutations are already described in type IV WS (i.e., in association with Hirschsprung disease [HD]) and heterozygous mutations in isolated HD. Screening of a WS2 cohort led to the identification of an overall of six heterozygous EDNRB variations. Ednrb endothelin receptor type B [ (Norway rat)] ET-B receptors on the endothelial cells play roles in the regulation of pulmonary and systemic vascular tone in normal condition through the NO-mediated pathway, whereas ET-B receptors on the smooth muscle cells have a role in the pulmonary vascular tone in liver cirrhosis.

Ednrb was found to be upregulated in Functional Associations. EDNRB has 6,194 functional associations with biological entities spanning 8 categories (molecular profile, organism, functional term, phrase or reference, chemical, disease, phenotype or trait, structural feature, cell line, cell type or tissue, gene, protein or microRNA) extracted from 83 datasets. EDNRB was detected in immunocytochemical section of A431 cells. Enzyme antigen retrieval was performed using IHC enzyme antigen retrieval reagent (AR0022) for 15 mins.

The EDNRB gene provides instructions for making a protein called endothelin receptor type B. This protein is located on the surface of cells and functions as a signaling mechanism, transmitting information from outside the cell to inside the cell. EDNRB (Endothelin Receptor Type B) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with EDNRB include Waardenburg Syndrome, Type 4A and Hirschsprung Disease 2. Among its related pathways are RET signaling and Signaling by GPCR.

To investigate whether mutations in EDNRB could be related with HSCR in non-inbred populations in Japan, we examined alterations of the gene in 31 isolated patients. Three novel mutations were detected as follows: two transversions, A to T and C to A at nucleotides 311 (N104I) and 1170 (S390R), respectively, and a transition, T to C at nucleotide 325 (C109R).
